Maxwell began programming as a hobby while working as a pharmacist. He started contributing to the open-source community initially focusing on projects within the fp-ts ecosystem, and later shifting his efforts to Effect. His work has primarily revolved around maintaining and expanding the projects, as well as managing all of the infrastructure for the Effect organization.

Maxwell believes that Effect is the future of programming in TypeScript and thoroughly enjoys the community that has been built around the project.
